Plakias village is the perfect holiday location on the South coast of Crete island in Greece in the Rethymno regional unit, about 30 kilometres south of the city of Rethymno.
It is a small village (used to be a fish-village) and so retains the traditional Cretan hospitality.
There is good range of tavernas and shops. The beautiful south facing curved bay in which it sits is ideal for swimming and sunbathing (nudists / naturists are catered for at the far end of the Souda–bay or Amoudaki beach). The hills behind provide wonderful hikings, on trails through the olive trees.
